On Strong f-Electron Localization Effect in a Topological Kondo Insulator

We study a strong f-electron localization effect on the surface state of generic topological Kondo insulator (TKI) system by performing mean-field theoretic (MFT) calculation within framework periodic Anderson model (PAM) using slave boson technique. The metallicity, together with bulk insulation, requires this type localization. A key distinction between states in conventional and is that, along course joining two time-reversal invariant momenta (TRIM) same BZ, there will be an intersection these states, even/odd number times, Fermi energy inside spectral gap. For even (odd) crossings, are topologically trivial (non-trivial). symmetry consideration pictorial representation band structure obtained here show odd leading to conclusion at least PAM framework, insulator.
